Welcome to The Company Farm Pecan Grove. We are located in the small Northeast Louisiana town of Baskin. The Company Farm is owned by Dr. and Mrs. Lionel Barraza and operated by Gary Haggart. Located on the former Breese Lumber Company Farm, the grove now consists of massive pecan trees standing in its square mile expanse.
In the early 1920's, Baskin was booming with the timber and lumber industries until a catastrophic fire destroyed the Breese lumber mill. As the industry was condemned, so was the little town. The Company Farm was sold to Mrs. Barraza's father, Dr. J.P Frellsen, a well-known local physician. The farm was purchased for a mere $25 an acre. For many years this farm produced some of Franklin Parish's finest cotton. In 1965, the family planted the first of many pecan trees. Dr. and Mrs. Barraza bought the sprawling 640 acre orchard from the family in 1969.
The fertile, alluvial soil of the orchard is the key to the true Louisiana pecan. These pecans are the tastiest that nature has to offer. We assure you that no shortcuts are taken in the growing, processing, and packaging of our precious goods. We are dedicated to the satisfaction of our customers, and we offer the highest quality pecans at the best prices you'll find anywhere. |
